Why do the Republicans keep bringing up seat belt laws? It just shows how out of touch our politicians are with the people who live in Indiana. I know very few people who think forcing competent adults to wear a seat belt is a legislative priority; but, our politicians are at it again! I wear a seat belt when I drive. To me, it is common sense. Why does our government think they need to force adults to wear seatbelts? I do not need the government telling me what to do! I have served my country in time of war, I am a law abiding citizen, treat me like one! The Indiana government has made seat belt law enforcement a priority for the various law enforcement organizations in the state as well. We pay tens of thousands of tax payer dollars and instruct our police officers to go and write tickets to make law abiding citizens pay silly fines over not wearing seat belts. What a complete waste of my tax dollars! Let law enforcement spend their time chasing criminals, not trying to force law abiding citizens to comply with more silly government regulations! If you do not believe in expanding the seat belt laws, please join us at the Organizing Convention of The Libertarian Party of Allen County. We are meeting at the Catablu restaurant on 2441 Broadway. The meeting is on Dec 13, 2004. The actual meeting will start at 7 PM, if you are interested in having dinner come early! The public is welcome! Please contact us if you are interested in attending! There are, however, still individuals who continue to persist that Free Love is immoral. They have yet to prove a causal relationship. An individual may have multiple partners with which they do many things: chess, jogging, movie going. These are things that people can do together. When they do it together, they do not expect their partner to only do such an action with them only. Sex, as far as our society is concerned, is t… 2. The Affirmative Action Debate Affirmative action is one of the most controversial political issues facing America. Most often, affirmative action assists disadvantaged groups by improving placement in higher education and employment, and the term is most often conceived as a program to improve the standing of African Americans. People take several stances on the issue, supporting their opinions with various justifications, such as the need for equality and natural competition. Although it was created to help advance the pos… 3. On The Privatization of Social Security By Dr. Alexander Ma Reform Social Security has been talked of Capital Hill for many years. However, it is just put in a real action by President Bush recently. The reason is Social Security could have shortage to pay retirees by year 2018 and bankruptcy by year 2042 because the growth of retirees is faster than the contributors of Social Security. Privatization is the process of putting percentage of payroll tax of Social Security into private account that can be invested into stocks and bounds markets. Stocks an… 4. End Of History? Not Quite By Mithun Bhattacharya A visitor to Moscow would be immediately struck by the fact that an otherwise dull Kremlin now seduces one to break the sound barrier in a mike, rediscover one self on a Compaq or simply feel Warner in a Pringles. If this is not enough then there is always Chairman Mao in Tiananmen Square calling upon workers and peasants to not only carry forward the revolution but also gulp down a Sprite, while they are at it. Numerous more examples abound from the Adriatic, so what does it all signify? Is … |
